La neutralité sur laquelle repose nos échanges est fortement mis en cause sous des prétextes fallacieux. Nous en sommes arrivés au point ou **l’Internet doit être protégé des gouvernements.** Nous avons transformé une province éloignée de la culture en une cité cosmopolite et vibrante, dont la richesse profite à tous. **Nous avons construit le cyberespace.** Nous l’avons construit bit après bit, manifeste après manifeste, lolcat après lolcat. Nous y avons nos cathédrales et nos bazars. Nous y avons inventé des mondes, des modes de relation et des intelligences à nulle autre pareille. Le cyberespace n’est pas un nouvel espace à conquérir. Il n’est pas à coloniser. **Il n’est pas à civiliser.** Le cyberespace est un espace de civilisation. Il l’est depuis sa fondation. Il l’est nécessairement parce qu’il est construit et habité par des hommes et des femmes. L’internet porte un regard égal à Kevin ou à Mark. Il n’est pas un espace égalitaire. Il traversé par des barrières, mais ces barrières sont des constructions sociales. Elles ne sont pas dans architecture du réseau. Nous refusons le cyberespace soit transformé en **un espace de surveillance.** Nous refusons que **les États abandonnent les protections** qu’ils doivent au citoyen. Nous refusons que les **États violent le droit** à la vie privée dans le cyberespace. Nous refusons que **l’architecture du cyberespace soit modifiée.** Nous refusons que **l’ancien droit d’auteur serve de modèle** à tous les échanges. À l’heure où la fin de l’humanité devient une hypothèse tangible, nous avons plus que jamais besoin d’un espace commun où nous pouvons nous retrouver ensemble et régler les questions qui nous occupent. **Le cyberespace rend possible des Place Tahir et des Puerta del Sol.** Nous ne pouvons nous permettre de perdre ces futurs. **Défendons les.**
